Cookies and Privacy
Hello! Apparently I'm supposed to have a page about cookies and privacy, for legal reasons and stuff. So here it is!

The purpose of this site is to talk about science fiction books that I like, especially lesser-known and underrated ones. I'm not interested in marketing to you, collecting or selling your personal information, etc.

I built this site on the Wix platform, because it lets me make a decent-looking website without a lot of work. The Wix platform uses some cookies by default, and as far as I can tell I'm not able to turn them off (let me know if you know otherwise!). To quote their help page on the subject:

Wix uses cookies for important reasons, such as:
-
To provide a great experience for your visitors and customers.
-
To identify your registered members (users who registered to your site).
-
To monitor and analyze the performance, operation and effectiveness of Wix's platform.
-
To ensure our platform is secure and safe to use.

Here is that help page with some information about the cookies Wix uses: https://support.wix.com/en/article/cookies-and-your-wix-site

I've added the Wix cookies pop-up so you can choose to accept all Wix cookies, decline all but the "essential" Wix cookies (which are apparently necessary for their platform security or something), or go to their settings for more choices. I've also enabled the Wix "cookie settings" button at the bottom of the site so that you can change these settings.

Aside from the Wix platform cookies, I haven't added any further cookies, tracking, or anything of that sort to this site. I'm not enabling user accounts, so I don't have any personal information about you. I do have Comments currently enabled to allow for some interaction, which may change if bots and trolls make that too annoying. If you choose to write a Comment, whatever information you put will be publicly displayed. There's no need to put your real name or any other personal information in the Comments section! Feel free to call yourself John Jacob Jingleheimer Schmidt. Or something easier to type.

I may add Google Ads to this site at some point. I'm also planning to implement affiliate links, which is common on book blogs. That basically means that if I link to Amazon (for example) from a book review, there will be a code in the link identifying that you came from this page. If you end up purchasing the book, Amazon will pay me a small percentage of their profit for the referral. I don't expect to make much in this manner, and it will in no way effect the recommendations that I make. And if you're not into that, you can always go to Amazon and type the book title directly, rather than clicking on the link here.
